After earning her Apparel Design degree from Bassist College in Portland, OR, in 1998, Kristin chose to pursue a path in knitwear design with a focus on hand knitting.

In addition to her work for knitting magazines and yarn companies, she is the author of three books: Knits From the Heart, Crochet From the Heart, and Blankets, Hats, and Booties (all published by Martingale & Company). The Knitting Man(ual) is her fourth book, and her first with Ten Speed Press.

Kristin also serves as Design Director for ShibuiKnits, a Portland, Oregon based yarn company.

When not knitting, Kristin volunteers at House of Dreams Cat Shelter, practices yoga, and takes hip hop, samba, and Afro-Cuban/Afro-Brazilian dance. She also enjoys reading and cooking, and time spent doing nothing at all.
